Surgery or no surgery

So. A while back I had to go to hospital with a lot of pain, it turned out to be stones in my gall-bladder. They didn't have to do anything about it then, it simply stopped hurting after some ten hours, and since then I haven't had any pain. But I've been to check my blood out a few times, and today I went to see a surgant-specialist to check out the next step.

So, at first he talked about three groups - and which group that should have the surgery of removing the gallbladder. I was in that group.

But then he said, patients with a lot of problems with their stomach (such as diarreah) should think twice, as it might get worse after the surgery. And as I have IBS - I need to give this some thought.

What is the good thing about not having the gallbladder? Well, basically, that's where all the stones are made. (in me) With the blood tests they could see that I have plenty a-stones doing walk-a-bouts in my body. What could be real bad is if the stones get stuck around my liver - and stop the organ from doing it's jobb.. that would lead to things such as jaundice, not good. Also it could get really bad if the stones get stuck at the pancreas... that could lead to death.

And yet. I have to decide this on my own. ME! I am hardly an expert. I didn't even know about gallbladders before I went to hospital because of it.

The surgant thinks that I could live with the stones in the gallbladder if I eat in a certain way. Very odd things, such as not eating the peel on the cucomber - very bad for me. (what??) and eggs... (I love eggs!!) etc.

So, do I remove the gall-bladder and the risk of a worse stomach?

Or keep the gall-bladder and risk the possibility of the pain from the stones going to the wrong places?

The facts of the matter are;

1. I have plenty of stones and they're already out and about.

2. The surgant thinks that removing the gallbladder would be good.

3. I do have IBS and that could (high chance) get worse with removing the gallbladder.

So, what do I decide? Puh, right now, I have no clue. I don't know a thing about the body.. I must admit. It's just sort of there. I better get researching.
