ARQ (2016) My review

The movie itself has an interesting build.It's similar to groundhog day as in that it's about some people who live in time loop. (no more than that though) The world is much different from today. But we only get a negligible view of it. The film is more or less built on assumptions. We're supposed to just imagine this world, maybe based on a thousand other dystopian movies. Anyway, the idea is probably that we've seen all of those other movies, and can believe the story as it is. And what is it?

It's a short time-loop, where a man and a woman, wake up, and go through some actions, including the "bad guys" and then some other but the same "bad guys" and the woman is probably a "bad guy" as well but then she isn't anymore and they all die and die and die, and they shoot one after the other, but it really doesn't matter, because of the time-loop which keep waking them up in the same bed, in the same room. Ps, the seem to remember some of the action sometimes...

Et Voila, the whole movie right there! Was it good? Nope.

Interesting? Nope.

Fresh? Nope.

Scary? Nope.

An interesting end, at least? Nope. But I still give it a 3 out of 10, for effort. /Marianne
